Guitars and Gear
A brief overview of the guitars I use and some of the supplementary equipment.

Guitars
Gibson ES175D SH model - "Josephine". The most mellow and warm sounding guitar. It's pretty much a standard of the type, but with amended switch and tailpiece in line with the "Steve Howe" customisation. The sound is very "jazz guitar standard" though. My mainstay.

D'Angelico NEW YORKER - from the vestax era but still retaining the characteristics of the early hand-mades. Has a really playable shallow neck and bouncy sound - great for those pieces that might otherwise be played on acoustic guitars.

Epiphone Emperor II - Joe Pass Signature model. Incredible guitar for the low price - very narrow neck can help with the scales and fast chord changes. Bright sound (not least as I added a Gibson bridge to replace the original wooden unit).

Gibson Les Paul Standard, "honeyburst". For playing Jazz fusion and more rock-oriented stuff this is a cracker to play.

Gibson Les Paul Deluxe, "Pelham Blue" - coil splitting and bright sound give it unique characteristics. A wider nut and fretboard compared with the Standard so can be quite forgiving.

Godin Mulitiac, Natural - for the compromise of obtaining the nylon strung souund while relying on Jazz guitar techniques. A nice sound.

Peerless New York, sunburst. A valid attempt by Peerless to make a cross between a D'Angelico and D'Aquisto. Makes a go of it. Big, big sound - useful to play where there's no amplification but wanting a jazz box feel. Lovely warm sound through a jazz amp.

£550 - includes flight case.
Amplification & sound.
DV Mark "Little Jazz Combo" - Great for small rooms provided it can be positioned well. Reverb slightly flawed (turns into tremolo when cranked up).

Roland Cube 80x - Bigger, more expansive sound - using either the JC Clean or the models - better for "noisy" rooms.

Boss RV3 - Digital Reverb/Delay - in combination with either above makes up for flaws in the amps or the specific issues of the room.
